Safety and Security

• Safety is always a priority for us and no detail has been overlooked, with child friendly guards and locks on doors, windows, storage and plug sockets, as well as a strict access policy.
• All our doors have finger protector guards so little fingers don't get hurt.
• Entry and exit from the crèche is controlled by CCTV.
• We have controlled internal entry and exit points and an intercom system in the building.
• Parents must complete a detailed child record form so that staff are aware of each child’s medical history and any allergies or special needs they may have.

Our Care
At Jigsaw Creche, we provide a homely, secure yet fun environment for all children. Our spacious building has been purpose built in order to offer the best possible facilities such as bright age specific designed rooms and an outdoor safety surfaced play area.  

We provide high quality childcare for children aged from 1 year to afterschool aged children.  Each age group has its own room, providing a familiar base and an ideal environment to play and learn.  At each stage of a child’s development we will adapt activities to your child’s needs.   

Our structured day will allow children take part in a wide range of activities, including regular quiet and free playtime.   

A Daily Report is filled out every day for each child and this information is passed on to the parent each evening so you will be aware of everything going on in your child’s busy day.  These daily reports outline in detail each child’s sleep, meals, nappy changes/toileting, medical administration and activities they were involved in each day. 

Our Menu

At Jigsaw Crèche we understand that highly nutritious, good quality food is essential for each child’s development.  All of our meals are prepared using fresh produce in our on-site kitchen by qualified staff who are trained in HACCP.  Breakfast, dinner and evening snack are provided and are freshly prepared daily. 

Mealtimes provide opportunities for children to develop self-reliance together with physical and emotional skills. We avail of every opportunity to make mealtimes fun.

Wobblers (1-2 years)
When your child moves to the Wobbler Room, we adapt the routine to cater for their needs and encourage learning through a range of activities such as music, painting, water and sand.  In the wobbler room activities, meals and sleep times are more structured while still allowing flexibility for individual needs. Our room and activities are specifically designed around a wobblers need for experimentation and exploration.

• Children will be provided with nutritionally balanced meals.
• Nappy changing room separate to playroom.
• The Wobbler Room is self-sufficient with its own kitchen and nappy change room so staff do not need to leave the wobbler room.
• Quiet sleep room with cots separate to playroom.
• Children play daily outside in the garden and playground

Toddlers (2-3 years)
The Toddler Room offers a more structured environment where we encourage learning through play. This is an age when children begin to play together. Toddlers will be encouraged to play with and explore puzzles, books and engage in arts and crafts and musical activities.  Vocabulary increases greatly and sentences rather than just words are formed. Activities and curriculums are designed around these changes to enhance their individual development.  Children are toilet trained while in the toddler room as staff and parents work together to follow the same routines.  

Playschool Room
Our Playschool room caters for children aged from 2 years to 3 and a half years.

Children attending playschool do not have to be toilet trained. Children engage in arts and crafts and musical activities and will explore puzzles and books. Children attending playschool will move into our Montessori room when they are ready for a more structured environment in the year before they start primary school.

   

Montessori Room
Our Montessori teacher, Angela Walsh, is qualified in the Montessori method of teaching which was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.  The Montessori environment allows children to choose their own activity and to complete exercises at their own level in their own time.   Our trained Montessori teacher will develop each child’s reading, writing and numeracy.    Our Montessori Room is equipped with specially designed equipment and uses a teaching philosophy to encourage children to develop their skills in language, practical life, use of their five senses, mathematics, science, geography and the arts.  The classroom is designed to support your child’s need for purposeful activity.  We aim to provide each child with a sound educational grounding which will prepare them for school.   

 

Pre-School Room (3-5 years)
In the pre-school room children are introduced to a classroom environment.  Children become used to sitting at a table and concentrating for longer periods of time.

In the morning, the pre-school children attend the Montessori class.

The Montessori method is introduced by our trained staff. Children will learn the fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics. Our curriculum also concentrates on language, arts and crafts, the world we live in, music, free play, cookery and personal and social development.  Children will learn the basics to more than prepare them for school.  

In the afternoon, the pre-school children follow a less structured curriculum with more emphasis on free-play and outdoor activities.

Before and Afterschool care
We offer a drop off and collection service to and from all local schools in Edenderry, Clocha, Rince, Ballybryan, Rhode and other areas on request. We provide a Breakfast club before school.  When the children come in from school they have some free play time followed by dinner. Children receive a hot, home cooked dinner when they come in from school.

After dinner they are helped with their homework by our qualified staff.  After homework we provide a range of fun based games, activities and outdoor play.

Jigsaw Crèche Activities
Children’s play is their work, so it must be interesting and stimulating.  Playing is an integral part of any child’s day and at Jigsaw Creche we provide a wide range of fun based games, activities and toys which keep our children busy for hours. 


We aim to ensure that your child’s day is filled with experiences that will encourage all aspects of their learning. All our programmes are designed with the children’s age groups in mind and we will work with you to develop a programme tailored to your child. Each and every child is different and we understand that each child has different routines. 

Little Extras:
We hold a birthday party for each child, which will include their group preparing some treats such as Rice Krispie Buns and decorated biscuits. We just ask the parents to supply a cake for the party. Games and dressing up are all part of the festivities.
